Reset “Service B” on Mercedes C230 and Other C Class:

Use the steps below to reset the light for service b on Mercedes C230, C280, C350, and any other Mercedes Benz C Class. These are the manual reset procedures to clear the maintenance message after an oil change without the use of the Mercedes scan tool. That means that you can do this from home. Whether you perform your own service or the service shop just plain forgot to reset it for you, there is no need to go back if you can follow these steps.

2015

  1. Close all doors, hood, and trunk lid and turn the ignition to position I (ACC)
  2. Press HOUSE button located on the left of the steering wheel repeatedly until the menu item TRIP is highlighted in the multi-function display
  3. Press the OK button within 5 seconds
  4. Press and hold PHONE button and then within 1 second press and hold down the OK button
  5. Hold both buttons for 5 seconds or until you see “Vehicle data Dynamometer Test Change Brake Lining ASSYST PLUS and Head-up Display” on the screen
  6. Press the DOWN arrow repeatedly until ASSYST PLUS is highlighted and then press the OK button
  7. Press the DOWN arrow to highlight FULL SERVICE and press the OK button
  8. Press the DOWN arrow repeatedly until CONFIRM SERV is highlighted and then press the OK button
  9. Select the engine oil used with the UP arrow and then press the OK button
  10. Use the DOWN arrow to scroll to YES and then press the OK button
  11. Use the DOWN arrow again to highlight CONFIRM and then press the OK button
  12. The display will then show “Full service completed”
  13. Press the BACK button repeatedly to get back to the standard display
  14. Turn the vehicle to the OFF position and back ON to confirm the reset is complete

2008-2014

  1. Close all doors hood and trunk lid and turn the ignition to position I (ACC)
  2. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to scroll through the information center to display the mileage/kilometer counter
  3. Press the FORWARD and/or BACK buttons repeatedly until the menu item Trip with highlighter is shown
  4. Press and hold the accept/end PHONE button within 5 seconds of showing the Trip screen and within 1 second also press and hold the OK button
  5. Hold both buttons for about 5 seconds until the Workshop menu is displayed
  6. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to highlight Assyst Plus and press OK
  7. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to highlight Full Service or Due Services and press OK
  8. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to highlight Confirm Serv or Complete Service and press OK
    *NOTE: Some models will not have steps 9-11 in which case skip to step 12
  9. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to select the specification of oil used for service and then press OK
  10. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to highlight Yes and press OK
  11. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to highlight Confirmation and press OK
  12. Once Full Service Carried Out appears in the display press OK and then BACK button repeatedly to return to standard screen

OR

  1. Close all doors hood and trunk lid and turn the ignition to position I (ACC)
  2. Use the UP and/or DOWN buttons to scroll through the information center to display the mileage/kilometer counter
  3. Press and hold the R button (lower left button on steering wheel) and then also press and hold the + button (upper right button on steering wheel) within 1 second
  4. Hold both buttons for 5 seconds or until the voltage indicator appears in display and then release them
  5. Press the system SELECT button (upper left button on steering wheel) to display Assyst Plus
  6. Press the R button to display Service Data
  7. Press the system SELECT button to display Full Service and then press the R button
  8. Press the system SELECT button repeatedly until Confirm Service? appears in the display and then press the R button
  9. Select the specification of oil used for service and then confirm
  10. Press the + button once to display No Take-Back and then press it again to display Full Service Carried Out
  11. Press the system SELECT button repeatedly to return to standard screen

2001-2007

  1. Close all doors, hood, and trunk lid and turn the ignition to position II (ON)
  2. Press the main menu PAGE buttons repeatedly to display the main trip/temp menu
  3. Press the UP and/or DOWN arrows to scroll through the sub-menus to display the FSS (Flexible Service System) menu
  4. To enter reset mode, press and hold the TRIP or DIMMER button (located on the left side of the instrument cluster) until the message “Do You Want To Reset Service Interval?” “Confirm reset Using Reset Button” or “Service Interval To Reset: Press Reset Button for 3 Sec.” is shown in the display, then release the button
  5. Press and hold the TRIP or DIMMER button again until “Service Interval Has Been Reset” is shown in the display and then release the button
  6. The display will show the FSS sub-menu with a new mileage interval, then turn the ignition to position 0 (OFF)

1994-2000

  1. Close all doors, hood, and trunk lid and turn the ignition to position II (ON)
  2. Within 4 seconds of turning key on, press the “0” button (located on instrument cluster) twice quickly
  3. Within 10 seconds, turn the key to position 0 (OFF)
  4. Press and hold the “0” button and turn the ignition back to position II (ON)
  5. Continue to hold the button for 10 seconds or when you hear a signal sound and see the new service interval
  6. Release the button and switch the ignition to position 0 (OFF)
