How the Chevy Malibu Oil Light Reset Procedure is Performed After Oil Change

Chevy Malibu Oil Light Reset Procedures:

2013-2015

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off
2. Push MENU button on the turn signal switch
3. Use adjustment wheel and select menu – “Vehicle Information System”
4. Use adjustment wheel and select menu – “Oil Life System”
5. Push SET/CLR button on the turn signal switch and push brake pedal at the same time
6. Turn the key to the OFF position and back on to confirm reset successful

2009-2012

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off
2. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds of turning key
3. Change Oil lamp will flash for 2-10 seconds while it resets
4. Once it stops flashing, the maintenance light reset is complete
5. Turn key to OFF position and then start engine to verify indicator is no longer illuminated

OR

1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off
2. Press the INFO and RESET buttons on the DIC at the same time to enter the personalization menu
3. Press the INFO button to scroll through the menus until you see “Oil-Life Reset”
4. Press and hold the RESET button until you see “Acknowledged” displayed
5. Turn the key to the OFF position and back on to confirm reset successful

2004-2008

1. Display the “Oil-Life Reset” message on the DIC
2. Press and hold the ENTER or INFO button until you see “Acknowledged” displayed
3. Turn the key to the OFF position and back on to confirm reset successful

2002-2003

1. Remove the instrument panel fuse box cover (fuse box located under hood on Saturn)
2. With the ignition switch in the ON position, depress the Oil Reset button for five seconds
3. The change oil lamp should then go off
