Volkswagen Beetle Oil Wrench Light Reset Procedure for Model Years 1999-2015:

2012-2015:

  1. Turn the key into the ON position
  2. Select the “Settings” menu with the controls located on either the windshield wiper arm or the steering wheel
  3. Select the “Service” submenu and then select the “Reset” option and then press the OK button to reset the display
  4. Press the OK button once more to confirm

OR

  1. With the ignition switched OFF, press and hold the 0.0/ SET button (located on the right side of the instrument cluster)
  2. While holding down, turn the ignition to the ON position
  3. Release the button and briefly press the button for setting the CLOCK (located on the left side of the instrument cluster) once
  4. After a brief period, the display will switch back to the normal display indicating the service interval is reset

1999-2010

  1. With the ignition switched OFF, press and hold the 0.0/ SET button (located in the center of the instrument cluster)
  2. While holding down, turn the ignition to the ON position
  3. Release the button (the note “Service” appears in the display)
  4. Press and hold the 0.0/ SET button again for 10 seconds or until the “Service” note disappears
  5. Turn the ignition to the OFF position

1999-2006

  1. With the ignition switched OFF, press and hold the 0.0/ SET button (located in the center of the instrument cluster)
  2. While holding down, turn the ignition to the ON position
  3. Release the button (the note “Oil” or “OEL” appears in the display)
  4. Press the button quickly and repeatedly until “INSP” displays (Pressing the button quickly switches between “OIL”, “OEL”, and “INSP” without reseting the service)
  5. Press and hold the button for 10 seconds (while doing this, “INSP” will switch to “OIL” or “OEL” and after 10 seconds the “OIL” or “OEL” service will be reset)
  6. When three dashes appear in the display, release the button and turn the ignition to the OFF position
  7. The service interval is now reset
